belgium-born london based artist walter raes is most known for his 'wearable art', projecting a certain wit and visual pun through his work.
raes' practice is steeped in the surrealist traditions of his native country, in combination with an ecological stance.
in the oratory house during london design week 2011, he presents 'dun roamin', an installation which features a
meticulously worked vintge room, where each piece of design within has been transmogrified from found objects.
upon closer inspection, the traditional british suburban space delivers a sharp comment on waste, as each familiar object
turns out to be a pile of inventively reassembled trash.

behind the humour of raes' work is a serious message:
'there's so much waste, it makes me cringe, I want people to know how much effort goes into manufacturing everyday things,' he says.

new pieces on show include 'back home chest', 'deb's delight vase', 'fresh comfy chair', 'fish lamp', 'frying-time clock', 
'gilded pallet table', 'safety light helmet, 'sole fruit bowl' and 'a 'light' serving'.

오래간만입니다!
조금 바쁜 일이 있고, 그 후에 아주 느긋한 일이 있고, 왠지 여러가지로 블로그를 업데이 트하는 것을 잊어 버리고있었습니다. . .
죄송합니다. .

여담 입니다만, 폴 씨와 신 씨는 제가 지금까지 만나 왔던 많은 성인들 가운데에서

넘버원라고 생각합니다.


그러나 자세한 것은 두 사람의 "(약) 30 세, 회사원"의 예약이 丸潰れ 버릴 우려가 있기 때문에, 그만 둡니다.

여담은이 정도로하고.



둘째 날은 전날 새벽 4 시​​까지의 피로를 아직 몸에 남기면서도
낮에는액세서리모자등의 매입에서 배회하고 밤은 또한 귀하재단사매입에서 배회. . .

맛있는 고기를 과식하고, 어쩐지 이대로 돌아가자 마자자는 완전히뚱보그러나 유감스럽게도 텐션 올라 있었다 나는. . .

그 후, 왠지 결국 같은 방에서スマップ를 대 열창했다 우리이었습니다.
(시간도 두 시간 정도 연장했습니다.)





그리하여 나는 즐거운 밤을 마치고 앞으로 namaiki 노력하자, 그리고 반환 택시에서 다짐을했던 것입니다.

arnold goron: window display for isabel marant




isabel marant, rue saintonge, paris, 2011


french designer arnold goron has recently completed new window displays for french fashion designer isabel marant.
these special installations entitled 'molecular structure' can be found in the shops of marant in paris, new york,
madrid, beirut and beijing.

for the scientifically derived window visuals, goron has used a 'samba stick', a wood that has the lightness of balsa, but stronger,
which have been sharpened to a point like a pencil. the sticks are all connected by use of polystyrene balls forming the
large, abstract molecular structures. goron has then added a motor over the hanging structures, making them spin around slowly
on featured window mannequins. in some of the installations, the mannequins are spinning in the opposite way that the structure
is moving, to give more of a visual effect.

zurich-based architect and programmer michael hansmeyer has shared with us images
of 'the sixth order', his latest project conceived for the gwangju design biennale 2011 in korea.
engaging with the main theme of the event - 'dogadobisando' (design is design is not design) -
the installation does not present a designed object but instead proposes the design of a process
to generate objects.

a further exploration of his previous project, 'the sixth order' utilizes algorithms and
subdivision processes in its formal approach to create unique permutations that manifest
themselves as a complex and elaborate system of ornaments. four individual columns
were generated from a single process and then constructed from layering 1mm grey
board sheets that have been mill or laser cut. while sharing the same constituent process,
the columns have not a single surface or motif in common.

for the biennale, two floor-to-ceiling mirrors on adjoining walls were set up to visually
multiply the presence of the columns. the layout creates the illusion of sixteen columns
which are symmetrical along a single axis. virtual models intermingle with physical objects,
resulting in a surreal sense of space that allows the viewers to perceive the forms from
a multitude of perspectives.

serge salat: beyond the infinity immersive installation




'beyond the infinity', an immersive installation by french artist and theorist serge salat


'beyond the infinity', a multisensory installation by french artist and theorist serge salat,
interweaves mirrors, light, music, and fractal art in an architecture that conflates visitors' perceptions of space.
the installation is installed at shanghai's westgate mall from september 16th through 18th, 2011.

measuring 12.45 by 10.8 meters at a height of 3.8 meters, the structure is completely closed,
composed of a steel infrastructure with honeycomb aluminum panels covered in mirrors.
internally, the space is designed around the trigram of the yi king, utilizing spatial techniques
traditional of suzhou gardens as a means of framing the visitor experience as a 'mystical journey'
through abstracted chinese courtyards. painted wooden grids and steps lend additional structure,
while the fractal objects are composed of wooden frames covered with punched aluminum anodized panels.

inside the installation, as music plays, the lighting pulses and shifts as visitors move through a series of room-like spaces
whose dimensions are almost indiscernible as a result of the infinite reflections cast by the mirrors. on a 9-channel system,
the lighting varies from ultraviolet blue to white, traversing each minute a complete cycle that recreates the effects of dawn
through sunset and night. visitors pass first through a blue lattice grid with a darkened section monikered the 'vertical infinite fault'
that seems to eliminate the space where they walk.





in addition to his artistic practice, salat works as an architect and has authored twenty books on subjects
ranging from virtual art, labyrinths, sustainable architecture, and cities and urban planning. the influences
of his academic work bring the perspectives of chinese taoist philosophy and post-structuralist thought
to a single physical manifestation, making use of ancient design and layout methods but modern multimedia
technology to create a space that feels veritably apart from ordinary spacetime.

 'beyond the infinity' is designed as 'a mystical journey, in which the visitor progresses into the reflected layers
of dreams endlessly nested in each other.' salat notes specifically: 'entering the work is also entering the world
of the dream of the red mansion transposed to the 21st century', referencing the classical chinese novel by cao xueqin.

the 'hyper cross', the fifth 'room'





after its exhibition in shanghai, 'beyond the infinity' travels to beijing, chengdu, dalian, xi'an, zhengzhou, shenzhen,
and hangzhou, remaining for three days in each city. the piece is conceptualized as an extension of salat's 2007
architectural installation, also entitled 'beyond infinity' but creating an immersive world of a different nature.
